Reuters first reported in October that Giuliani received $500,000 in 2018 to work on behalf of a company called Fraud Guarantee, co-founded by Parnas.

An unsigned document from mid-February reviewed by the New York Times laid out a draft proposal for Giuliani "to advise on Ukrainian claims for the recovery of sums of money in various financial institutions outside Ukraine".

"I would like to see one, then I could make a reasonable judgment of what is going on", Costello said.

O'Reilly again pressed Mr. Trump on whether he had asked Giuliani to travel to Ukraine, or to pressure the USA ally.

Both men deny the charges.According to the ABC report, some of the information sought by the House committee is in the hands of federal investigators in the Southern District of NY, which is investigating Giuliani's ties with Parnas and Fruman.Trump has sought to link the investigations into Biden and the 2016 election to larger concerns about Ukrainian corruption and not as something meant to benefit him. "All this is character assassination", Costello said, adding that he was not aware of an investigation by US prosecutors into Giuliani, a former prosecutor and mayor of New York City.

USA ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, testified that Trump directed him, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and former Ukraine special envoy Kurt Volker to work closely with Giuliani on Ukraine matters, a request that he viewed with alarm as Giuliani was a private citizen.

"I thought that would be too complicated", Mr. Giuliani said.

Asked about the discrepancy, Giuliani called CNN's inquiry "horseshit" and "trickery", and said previous responses to CNN were not misleading.

Reached for comment after the president's interview, Giuliani told CBS News, "the president never sent me to Ukraine". In his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Giuliani's name was mentioned four times - twice by Mr. Trump and twice by Zelensky. I don't represent him.

"Well, you have to ask that to Rudy, but Rudy, I don't, I don't even know", said Mr. Trump. "They speak all the time", Costello said.

Lutsenko, in the interview, said he refused to pay for a meeting with Barr.

Ousted U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch testified in the House's impeachment inquiry that Lutsenko, who participated in the Giuliani-led smear campaign against her, had tried to get a meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr and other American officials.

"We have always stated that we agreed to represent Ukrainian whistle-blowers", Mark Corallo, a representative for the law firm of Ms. Toensing and Mr. diGenova, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The two associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were charged this year in a campaign finance case. He played down the discussions in an interview with The Times, contending that a Ukrainian official approached him this year wanting to hire him personally.

Though no Ukrainian government official is named in the indictment, people familiar with the matter say the references refer to Lutsenko.

Sessions has said he is cooperating with the investigation and did not have any knowledge of Parnas and Fruman's alleged scheme.
