Surveys indicate that most Democrats support impeaching Trump versus stark opposition by Republicans and increasing opposition from Independents.

However, finalizing his part of the impeachment effort will not stop Schiff from continuing his investigation into Trump, the California Democrat told CNN host Jake Tapper on "State of the Union".

Trump has said he did nothing wrong and dismisses the inquiry as politically motivated.

For example, the FiveThirtyEight average of national polls states that backing for impeachment has declined from 50.3 percent in mid-October to 46.3 percent now, while opposition has increased from 43.8 percent to 45.6 percent.

Pelosi told reporters on November 21 that the trade deal, which was agreed upon in late 2018, probably won't pass this year.

"I'm not even sure, if we came to an agreement today, that it would be enough time to finish, but it just depends on how much agreement we come to", Pelosi said.

"What we're not going to do is wait months and months while the administration plays a game of rope-a-dope in an effort to try to stall".

After weeks of closed-door testimony and two weeks of public hearings, Schiff's committee has began drafting its impeachment report, which will be handed off to the House Judiciary Committee to continue the proceedings against the president.

The Democratic-led House is probing whether Trump abused the power of his office to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate political rival Joe Biden, as well as a discredited theory that it was Ukraine, not Russian Federation, who interfered in the 2016 USA presidential election.

Requested straight by Tapper whether or not he would testify, Schiff mentioned he wouldn't remark.

They've also tried to link Trump's review of congressionally approved military aid for Ukraine to the request.

Parnas, who has already been subpoenaed for documents, had worked with Giuliani at a time when Trump's lawyer was pushing for Ukraine to conduct the two investigations. American and Ukranian officials have said there was no link.
