Country star Sam Hunt arrested for DUI in Nashville

Sam Hunt, the country singer behind the song "Body Like a Back Road" and "House Party", was arrested after police say he was driving drunk the wrong direction down Ellington Parkway in Nashville, WKRN reports.

Hunt, wearing dark trousers and a blue hoodie, was filmed by the TV station as he left the jail Thursday morning. When police responded, they found the driver, identified as Hunt, swerving in and out of his lane.

Hunt was arrested Thursday morning, booked into jail and released on $2,500 bond, according to WKRN-TV. The officers mentioned in the reports that the country singer who debuted in the year 2014, had two empty beers in his auto.

When cops stopped the star, "there was an obvious odor consistent with alcoholic beverage coming from the Defendant", and he had "red, bloodshot and watery eyes", the court papers state.

Hunt took a field sobriety test and had a blood-alcohol level of.173.

Police said Hunt had a hard time finding his license and tried to hand them his passport and credit card instead.
