This feels more like a co-ordinated marketing beat than two major actors just happening to join a fan movement roughly two years after it first began.
"Gadot's black-and-white photo tweet was quickly followed by a similar black-and-white image from Cyborg actor Ray Fisher, while Batman actor Ben Affleck followed with a "#releasethesnydercut" tweet of his own.
Then, at the start of November Jason Mamoa, who plays Aquaman in the franchise, told MTV that he had seen the "Snyder cut" - and that the public needed to see it too. Snyder, who helmed "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman" and was "Justice League's" original director, had to leave production on the film partway through after his daughter died, with Joss Whedon taking the reins.
Billboards demanding DC and Warner Bros. release the "Snyder Cut" popped up in New York City last month, and a "speechless and humbled" Snyder even gave fans a shout-out on social media platform Vero (remember that one?). The term Snyder Cut is given to a hypothetical version of Justice League that was its original director Zack Snyder's vision. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, insiders at Warner Bros. have reportedly stated that there isn't an announcement on the way regarding a release of Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League. He also shared Affleck's post and wrote, "Neither can Batman".
But the movie - which at $300 million was among the most expensive ever made - was both a critical and financial disappointment, making $650 million at the worldwide box office, far less than was anticipated. There is a Snyder cut.
On the two-year anniversary of Justice League's theatrical debut, some of its superhero stars are pushing for the release of they 'Snyder Cut'. If they haven't though, one other very big name involved with the movie also voiced his approval for Releasing the Snyder Cut: Zack Snyder. It's possible, though, that this is a concerted effort by the cast to motivate Warner Bros.to actually fund some kind of Snyder Cut of the movie (which would take some time, effort, and especially money to complete).
