Horrifying: Nine Americans — including six children — killed in an ambush on a Mexican highway

Mexican media reported that the victims belonged to the LeBaron family, associated with a break-away Mormon community that settled in northern Mexico decades ago, and that the dead as well as additional missing family members may all be us citizens. Eight youngsters were found alive after escaping from the vehicles and hiding in the brush, but at least five had gunshot wounds or other injuries and were taken to the US for treatment, officials said.

The LeBarons's community are descendants of Mormons who fled the U.S.in the late 1800s after being persecuted for their traditions, including polygamy. All are believed to be USA citizens.
