A section of the popular Balogun market in Lagos is on fire.
According to a source, the building on fire is a shopping plaza located at No. 43, Martins Street, Lagos Island.
Efforts were ongoing to quench the fire at the time of this report.
The statement noted that the fire which has affected nearly every section of both buildings, is at risk of spreading to other buildings next to them, due to proximity and closeness to each other.
Nigerian firefighters were battling two fires that broke out nearly simultaneously at a busy market in central Lagos, the country's largest city and commercial center.
It is not yet known what caused the blaze.
It is unclear exactly what he was aiming at, but he flung his bucket repeatedly towards a small part of the fire after refilling it with water.
"I could not enter the furnace, the heat is so heavy that [you] can't get close to the particular building".
Trig-H, who imports female footwear to the market, told Euronews he was unable to rescue any of his goods.
