An advertisement for an upcoming Diablo art book, The Art of Diablo, in the German magazine Game Star, seemingly confirmed Diablo 4 today. The book will be published just after Blizzcon and it features more than 500 pieces of art from Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV.
Diablo 4's development and pending announcement have been known about for almost a year thanks to Kotaku.
Firstly, this book is so new that the ISBN number doesn't yet pop up in any publicly-searchable databases. Metro_OW, a partnered Overwatch streamer on Twitch, has also said that Diablo 2 Remastered is coming, which would fit with Blizzard's recent strategy of remastering some of its most popular classic games.
Secondly, advertising copy - that is, the actual text used in the ad - is often checked very thoroughly, but that doesn't mean that a mistake is entirely impossible, either.
It's no secret that Blizzard are working on Diablo 4, we've known for a while that the company is developing it, so much so that a year ago at BlizzCon fans were upset when it wasn't announced. The company's handling of matters relating to Hong Kong protests sure could have been better, with many fans still swearing off the company even if all of its decisions are reversed (many were). Fans are now wondering when will Blizzard announce a new chapter in the dungeon crawler Role Playing Game (RPG) franchise and no, they're not talking about Diablo Immortal.
That's not what caught their eye, though - it's the part that mentions a yet-to-be-seen Diablo instalment.
Word has it in the rumor mill that upcoming event BlizzCon 2019 will have a surprise for those who are fans of the PvP shooter, and it could be Overwatch 2.
