IAEA confirms Iran's installation of centrifuges

Trump, Iran's Rouhani could meet at UN, Pompeo says

Washington Accuses Iran Of 'Possible Undeclared Nuclear Activities'

This is a further breach of the 2015 nuclear deal Iran signed with world powers, as the use of advanced centrifuges to enrich uranium is completely banned by the deal.

"We agreed to go ahead with cooperation for the objective of preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program", Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, adding that the pact "has no sound alternative".

The landmark accord has been under mounting pressure since the U.S. withdrew from it in May 2018 and then re-introduced sanctions on Iran.

"The Americans are gaining more privileges through negotiations with Iran, and we should take the next steps (to reduce nuclear commitments) earnestly to counter their attitudes", Izadi added.

Criticism of Iran from Washington was prompted by a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors on September 9 where IAEA Acting Director Cornel Feruta said he has informed Iranian officials during a recent visit to Tehran about the importance of "full and timely" cooperation with United Nations nuclear inspectors.

It says IAEA inspectors later verified the installation of advanced centrifuges at a nuclear facility in Natanz in central Iran.

In a statement released on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Iran's decision to stop observing the limits set by the JCPOA on its nuclear research and development - known as R&D - poses no threat as Tehran is fully compliant with a safeguards agreement with the UN's nuclear watchdog.

"If any IAEA member-state including the United States or Israel has credible information, they should give it to the agency rather than make a public-relations show out of this", Kimball said. Washington also has been pressuring other countries to follow suit.

On the eve of the USA 2020 presidential elections, Trump needs "an Iran agreement" since he has had no achievement in the US foreign policy, Izadi pointed out, adding that Trump's exit from the deal will have no achievement for the United States.

"No problem with meeting", Trump said. "Iran should straighten out because frankly, they're in a very bad position", he added.
