Officials said the crash took place around 12:45 a.m. near Mulholland Highway and Cold Canyon Road, ABC7 reported, citing the California Highway Patrol.

A 31-year-old woman, who was also a passenger in the auto at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries.

The auto smashed through wooden fencing along the roadside, and you can see the roof was completely crushed by the impact.

Kevin Hart is recovering from "major back injuries" after his vintage Plymouth Barracuda veered off the road in California early Sunday morning, according to multiple reports. The roof of his vehicle was reportedly completely torn off. Hart was not driving and the driver of the vehicle was not under the influence of alcohol, according to the report.

A female passenger in the vehicle reportedly was unhurt.

Hart had bought the vehicle as a 40th birthday present for himself in July.

Neither the driver nor the other passengers was immediately identified. He was picked up by a member of his security team, and as he lives near the scene of the accident.

Hart wasn't at the wheel at the time, cops said.
