DeMarcus Cousins suffers another major injury

The NBA world received some terrible news early on Thursday with reports that former All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins suffered yet another serious leg injury.

Cousins, a four-time All-Star, is expected to meet with Lakers team physicians, sources said.

There is no timeline for surgery.

Cousins got hurt in a workout in Las Vegas earlier this week, a person with knowledge of the matter told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no official diagnosis has been released publicly. FAA officials said the preliminary indication is that two pilots and three passengers were aboard.

Cousins earned selection to the NBA All-Star Game in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 as a member of the Sacramento Kings, but the center has been slammed by injuries over the past 19 months. And if he can return to form, or at least to around 85-90 percent, Cousins will provide the Lakers the presence it needs to reemerge as one of the league's top teams.

Cousins, who previously tore his Achilles, signed a one-year deal with the Lakers this summer for $3.5 million. "It's been a couple of years of hell for DeMarcus with the injury, first the Achilles and then last year in the playoffs with the quad".

How will the Lakers pivot from Cousins' injury?

Cousins let out a loud scream after suffering the injury. If Cousins was healthy and somewhat back to form, he was figuring to be a big part of the Lakers next season. "I've seen how quick this game can be taken away from you". Davis and Cousins were teammates in New Orleans. Cousins played with the Warriors last season, though multiple injuries reduced him to appearing in just 30 games in the regular season and eight games in the postseason. What they had done at their age and for their position ranked them among all-time greats. In his nine National Basketball Association seasons, Cousins has averaged 21.2 points and 10.9 rebounds a game.

At one time Cousins, was considered one of the ten best players in the National Basketball Association, but has fallen on hard times the last two and a half years since being traded from the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans on February 2017.
