Ewan McGregor To Officially Return In Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Series

The rumors of an Obi-Wan Kenobi project have been swirling ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2013.

After years of speculation and rumors, last night it was finally confirmed that Ewan McGregor will be returning to the Star Wars franchise to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Of course, as long as the actor is in negotiations, the fate of the TV show isn't certain; Disney may require McGregor to be attached to the project for it to go ahead at all, although it could also consider casting a different actor if his schedule or pay expectations don't align with theirs.

Long seen as one of the few bright spots in the critically reviled Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, McGregor's return to the character has always been a popular prospect among Star Wars fans. But just as plans for Boba Fett were likely folded into the upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which stars a gunfighter (Pedro Pascal) from the same warrior tradition as the Star Wars Original Trilogy bounty hunter, Obi-Wan's future looks to be in streaming, rather than theaters. Following Solo, fans begin to daydream of more in-depth journies of beloved Star Wars characters.

Are you excited for Ewan McGregor to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Then, there was the scrapped Obi-Wan movie that we had hoped was coming, but never did. A few Star Wars novels and comics have explored Obi-Wan's life on Tatooine between Episodes III and IV.

With D23 next week, there is a lot of news we should be getting. However, there seems to have been a common thread amongst all these enthusiasts, and it is the outcry for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
