Pique wants to keep Coutinho at Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho seeks Premier League return as Barcelona say he can leave on loan just 18 months after signing for £142m

Transfer news - Mauricio Pochettino calls Philippe Coutinho as Brazilian nears loan move – reports

While Coutinho's price tag when moving from Liverpool to Barcelona in 2018 was massive, he hasn't lived up to the billing at the Nou Camp, and seems to be surplus to requirements at the moment.

The former Liverpool midfielder is keen on a return to the Premier League and Tottenham are assessing options as Manchester United discuss a potential bid for Christian Eriksen.

Reports earlier this week suggested Mauricio Pochettino had convinced Coutinho to join the Lilywhites before they pulled the plug, though.

Philippe Coutinho is reportedly close to a Premier League return with Arsenal.

It's been reported a couple of times over the past few days the Red Devils have been in talks with Spurs for the Denmark worldwide, but nothing has suggested those negotiations are leading anywhere.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are rumoured to be interested, though with the English transfer window shutting on Thursday any deal would have to move swiftly.

Pique said in a press conference: 'I want him (Coutinho) to stay, but at the end of the day it's what he wants and I want him to be happy. "He's a splendid player, but we haven't talked about Coutinho at any time". "But it's not my decision, it's the club's and Philippe's".

Highly-rated French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele joins from Lyon for a club-record fee whilst Giovani Lo Celso and promising England youngster Ryan Sessegnon joined on transfer deadline day.

Spurs are now being linked with Juventus talisman Paulo Dybala and an update on the same can be expected soon.

"But he is a player who is with us and we have him, of course".

If this move happens then it will obviously be a top signing for Arsenal but it has also created a few doubts in the fans mind since Unai Emery will have to sacrifice a forward player in order to accommodate the Brazilian.
