There's Already A Cyberpunk 2077 Card Game

Sorry folks, CD Projekt Red has no plans to include a digital equivalent of either the longstanding Netrunner card game or the developer's recently announced Afterlife card game in Cyberpunk 2077.

Designed by award-winning board game designer Eric Lang (Zombicide, A Song of Ice & Fire Miniatures Game), this card game puts you in the shoes of a Fixer in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. Players will be asked to impersonate Fixers, information traders who maneuver the shady Night City business behind the scenes by hiring and sending the Cyberpunks on a mission. You need to balance between what you want and what you can actually afford. "Andrea Chiarvesio and I were beyond thrilled to work on it", Lang said. "Using an innovative drafting mechanic and special dashboard, players must decide which cards they want to buy, and which to sacrifice for funds in order to purchase new ones".

CD Projekt Red's Rafal Jacki clarified this once and for all on Reddit that Cyberpunk 2077 won't have an in-universe card game, Netrunner or otherwise.

The Witcher 3's Gwent, an in-game, fully-featured card game, was an unexpected hit with players. Successful missions raise your Street Cred, with surviving team members ranking up and becoming Veterans. As a huge fan of board and card games myself, this is excellent news for fans like me. This is despite its recent announcement of a physical Afterlife game and the existence of the Netrunner, set in its universe.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most highly-anticipated PS4, Xbox One, and PC games on the horizon, and now there's an extra element to be excited for.
