LaLiga giants FC Barcelona have announced their fourth signing, with the arrival of Spanish full-back Junior Firpo.
He will be presented in front of supporters at the Camp Nou before the game against Arsenal and will take Vermaelen's old shirt - who used to play for the Gunners - following the Belgian's move to Vissel Kobe.
He will then fly out with the rest of his new teammates to the United States on Monday.
Andy Robertson is the only senior left-back at the club, following Alberto Moreno's departure in July. Alba has not had a backup since Lucas Digne left for Everton last summer.
Despite being born in the Dominican Republic, he is a Spanish global with the U21 team.
Barca had been keen on Bayern Munich's David Alaba, while Augsburg's Philipp Max was another leading contender. Considering several teams were heavily interested in acquired the Dominican-born defender - who has represented Spain U21 at the worldwide level - Barcelona have placed a huge price tag on his newest addition.
He joined Betis' youth academy in 2014 and debuted with its first team in 2018.
