Ohio State says its reviewing Jeffrey Epstein donations

Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein

The judge said he needed more time to make a decision during a hearing Monday in NY.

Two women who said they were sexually abused by Epstein, Annie Farmer and Courtney Wild, also spoke in court to voice their support for the prosecution's detention request.

Labour Secretary Alexander Acosta resigned last week following renewed criticism over the 2008 plea deal with Epstein he oversaw as the US attorney in Miami.

Annie Farmer (left) and Courtney Wild, who say they were sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein, asked a NY judge not to grant the disgraced financier bail.

Annie Farmer said she was 16 when she met Epstein in NY.

Prosecutors have said Epstein must remain in jail to prevent him fleeing the country, citing his wealth and connections overseas, as well as allegations he paid two potential witnesses previous year in an apparent effort to influence them. According to prosecutors, also in Epstein's safe were hundreds of photos "of what appeared to be underage girls" discovered after his arrest, Fox News reported.

Jeffrey Epstein is a long-time friend of President Donald Trump.

Prosecutors said they were "made aware" on Monday that Epstein's safe contained cash, diamonds and an expired passport.

"He is a scary person to have walking on the streets", said Wild, who lives in Palm Beach, where Epstein has a residence.

Epstein will be back in court in NY on Thursday, and that is when a judge is expected to set bond.

U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, who is considering whether Epstein should remain in jail or be allowed to live under house arrest at his mansion on Manhattan's Upper East Side, said in court that he would probably announce his bail decision on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. EDT (1330 GMT).

As part of the non-prosecution agreement that Epstein agreed to in 2008, he served 13 months of minimum security jail time in exchange for pleading guilty to two Florida state prostitution charges.

At the hearing on Monday, Rossmiller said the number of accusers against Epstein has continued to grow, but he declined to say how many people are making claims against the businessman.

Annie Farmer said she was 16 when she met Epstein in NY.

Epstein, 66, was arrested on July 6 after flying into New Jersey's Teterboro Airport by private plane from Paris.

The "14-year gap is an elegant rebuttal" to expectations that he would re-offend, Weinberg said. They said in court filings that Epstein's wealth makes him a major flight risk, as he owns a private jet as well as six homes, including a private island in the US Virgin Islands. They sat in black SUVs outside the homes of accusers, questioned their current and former boyfriends, and chased one parent's auto off the road, according to police reports and a lawyer for three accusers.

Epstein said in a 2002 profile in New York Magazine that his money-management firm would only work with clients with a net worth of at least $1 billion, a requirement that has many financial experts scratching their head.

The Miami Herald reported earlier in 2019 that the deal happened despite the investigation into Epstein finding three dozen underage female victims.
