Reasons Why Anthony Davis is Perfect Next to LeBron James

If Green's reasoning is correct, it sounds like the presence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis may have discouraged Leonard from joining the Lakers.

The Lakers could certainly use him come playoff time. He returns to the Lakers after averaging 9.2 points and 8.0 assists per game with Los Angeles a year ago.

And even though the Lakers missed out on Leonard, Pelinka said the team has cap space to pursue another max free agent in the summer of 2021 and that he continues to learn from mistakes made in the past like last summer. "As you guys know there are certain league-mandated rules that we have to follow around, but he's been nothing but supportive and excited about the roster and the team and the players that we have". I think it was between them and going back (to the Toronto Raptors). And Green - knowing there could be a pretty payday waiting for him in L.A. if Leonard didn't form a superteam alongside James and Davis - had no choice but to stand in line until Leonard punched his free-agency ticket first. "Everything I've gone through in the past three years it just helped me realize how fast this thing can be taken away from you".

"A (Davis), (Rajon) Rondo and LeBron (James) kind of all threw a pitch in there to get me here".

Last season, the 32-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

"I love it that much more" Cousins said. "It's insane how some things work out".

It's little disheartening to hear that Leonard wouldn't confide in Green, considering his longtime teammates' future hung in the balance. But I think both teams are very good on paper, we have to see how it's put together.

"I think what we owe to the fans here is that our time here is not responding to critics or criticism", Pelinka said. You never know, it could be two teams in L.A. playing against each other [in the playoffs] which we wouldn't have to travel anywhere.

With the Clippers remaining quiet during free agency and ultimately landing Leonard, Pelinka was asked if Johnson may have hurt the Lakers' chances with the top free agent available. I checked in with him all the time.

"I think all of it was a shock to me", Green said on a conference call with reporters Thursday. He gave me no updates.
