According to ESPN draft guru Jonathan Givony, Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland is going to have a last-minute workout with the New York Knicks, who own the No. 3 overall pick. He is in "serious consideration" to land with them.
The biggest adversity facing Garland's value is his limited collegiate experience, appearing in just 5 games during his lone season at Vanderbilt, leaving two minutes into his final appearance.
The late nature of this is interesting, as the Knicks were long speculated to take Duke's Barrett, who wants to play in NY.
Maybe the Knicks are doing their due diligence in case they move down in the draft.
The Knicks have always been linked to Duke swingman R.J. Barrett (or Ja Morant, should he make it past Memphis at No. 2), so if Garland is a strong possibility to go here then this could shake up the early-to-mid lottery. It could package a couple of those to get up to No. 4 to take Garland.
The Knicks have a chance to shake up a once-predictable top three. They're still expected to take Duke's R.J. Barrett after the New Orleans Pelicans select Zion Williamson first overall and the Memphis Grizzlies nab Murray State point guard with the second pick.
