Netizens back China's Huawei after United States ban

Huawei's CEO and founder isn't so fussed about the U.S. trade restrictions

While these claims are true or now, we are likely to see later this year.

Amid an intensifying trade war between Beijing and Washington, the recent targeting of the company stirred some in China to attempt to boycott US firms in support of Huawei.

In fact, on last Thursday (May 16th), United States had put Huawei in such a blacklist which would make it nearly impossible for the Chinese company to operate businesses with its U.S. suppliers, and a similar restriction on China's ZTE Corp.

Reuters reported on Sunday that Alphabet Inc's Google suspended business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware, software and technical services except those publicly available via open source licensing, citing a source familiar with the matter.

Nuttaporn Voonklinhom, an executive at the Thailand e-Business Centre (TeC), said the restrictions would affect new smartphones that want to use new Google mobile service upgrades such as Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps. The Aug. 19 deadline is meant to give telecom operators that rely on Huawei time to make other arrangements.

Current Huawei users need not be alarmed as there is reassurance that they will be able to update their phone but it is less clear for those planning to acquire a Huawei device. InterDigital said it believes it can continue its efforts to strike a 5G deal with Huawei because export control laws do not cover patents, which are public records and therefore not confidential technology. It has to be said that it is within the best interest of all the parties involved for the situation to de-escalate the situation and Huawei to be allowed to resume its relations with American companies as normal. Huawei might also have a tough time persuading the developers to make changes suitable for their platform. "Now with Google deciding to have a limited relationship with Huawei I will direct customers to other smartphones brands such as Samsung or Apple", he said.

India, where Huawei now has only single-figure market share, is also potentially vital.

Huawei is on the receiving end of a United States government accusation that it engaged in bank fraud to obtain embargoed USA goods and services in Iran and move money via the global banking system.

Also, restricting Huawei from doing business in the United States will "only serve to limit the inferior yet more expensive alternatives, leaving the USA lagging behind in 5G deployment, and eventually harming the interests of US companies and consumers", said Huawei.
