Crawleys await royal visit in 'Downton Abbey' movie, trailer shows

Indeed, it's kind of hilarious that the crux of the Downton Abbey movie is, "We have a fancy lunch but can't do it without our favorite butler!"

The first official trailer for the Downton Abbey movie contains nearly nothing in the way of story (a royal luncheon!) but that's not what we're going back for, is it?

"The king and queen are coming to Downton", a surprised Robert Crawley, played by actor Hugh Bonneville, says in the trailer which shows the family and their household staff, also key characters, preparing for the visit. This film bring back most of the cast for an all-new story set after the events of the series finale.

Of course the show wasn't without its dark moments, and it'll be interesting to see what twists and turns abound here.

The scrambling to get Downton Abbey ready for the royals means the major stars of the show are in the movie.

The men and women of Downton Abbey are about to host their biggest soirée yet - and they've got some very important guests to impress.

However, thankfully for Downton Abbey fans, a feature film was later confirmed - and now the first trailer for the film is finally here.

Downton Abbey, which will also star series regulars Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Goode, and Elizabeth McGovern, will arrive in cinemas on September 13.

The film premies in the US on September 20. "So we locked Julian Fellowes in a room for three years and made him come up with the script that we have today".
