However, not many details were available about the game mechanics and gameplay elements. It's early days for Minecraft Earth, and Microsoft doesn't have all of the answers to many questions figured out just yet.

Minecraft Earth will be a free-to-play game.

Minecraft Earth brings the block building adventures you are familiar with, and throws that into the real world. You can then save this build and place it on any similarly sized flat surface, or even send a link to a friend, who can download it, view and edit it.

You can condense the plate down to fit onto a coffee table, or blow it up to lifesize.

Collaborating: You can team up with other Minecraft Earth players to craft together!

Besides the free to play game, the free creative mode the game is given to you; you will interact and battle with the "living" creatures from the game, known as Mobs. And possible explore others' creations also.

Explore! Your real-life neighborhood is about to take on a new dimension. I saw a "Muddy Pig" variant which has unique behavior, diving into dirt blocks. There is also an in-game currency that will allow you to buy different items.

There's no firm release date or window yet for Minecraft Earth, but we'll be keeping a close eye on the upcoming spin-off.

"...there will be no loot boxes, no pay to win, and no time-gating type of monetization mechanics, so hopefully, they'll be relatively light (or even cosmetic-only)."
The popularity of these indie games at the turn of the decade pushed indie gaming into the mainstream and created a new demand that continues to exist alongside the triple-A market. You can walk around it and look at it from all angles through your phone display, and if you walk through a wall of the building, your camera will show you the interior. It's unclear at this time exactly how Microsoft intends to moderate content put out into this AR world. We can't wait to see how it all works come the summer. This version of Minecraft will be available on iOS and Android phones by using Augmented Reality (AR).

Still, according to the gamesindustry, Minecraft may not be the best-selling game since the latest data from Tetris sales goes back to 2014, which means the outlook may have changed in the last 5 years.

Minecraft is officially ten years old today.

Microsoft may believe it has made augmented reality's killer app: the just-announced Minecraft Earth for iOS and Android.
