TV cameras caught Stroman clearly upset with Montoyo as he approached the mound.
Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito allowed 1 run in 7 innings to win his second straight start. Offensively, they've dried up as bad as last night's pizza - having scored two or fewer runs in six of the past seven games and eight of the past 10.
The five runs occurred in the decisive fourth, when Yonder Alonso touched him up for a two-run home run shot to left, which lifted the White Sox in front 2-1. Jackson had been pitching in Triple-A before the trade. Toronto edged the White Sox 4-3 on Friday, but otherwise had no luck on home field en route to falling a season-low eight games under.500 on the season.
"It seems like, of his nine starts, there's always that one inning". He allowed just one run on four hits.
"He just had everything going and worked extremely efficiently, so he was able to get deep into the ball game", White Sox manager Rick Renteria said.
Rowdy Tellez had an RBI single in the first inning.
Guerrero, batting out of the two-hole for the third consecutive game, continues to make solid contact. Frankly, the A's had no reason to find a spot on the roster for Jackson before his opt-out, as he had posted an 8.38 ERA and a 1.655 WHiP in 9.2 innings at AAA. However, I think Toronto is due to break out the bats themselves on Sunday, and while Sanchez has been touched up in his last couple of starts, he's been fairly reliable on the whole this season, and I've made more money in the past than I've lost by going against Giolito, so I'll lay the juice with Toronto at home in the finale on Sunday. I've said that time and time again. Toronto is off on Monday before embarking on a six-game trip that begins Tuesday in San Francisco against the Giants.
Jackson's presence was required after Toronto starter Clay Buchholz landed on the injured list last week with right-shoulder inflammation.
After Stroman was pulled from Saturday's game while battling through a seventh-inning jam, the Jays starter had a somewhat heated exchange with manager Charlie Montoyo and pitching coach Pete Walker, with all parties playing down the situation after the game.
