Tim Conway, the stellar second banana to Carol Burnett who won four Emmy Awards on her TV variety show, has died, according to his publicist.

The actor died at 8:45 a.m. after a long bout with illness, Conway's daughter Kelly, confirmed in a press release Tuesday morning.

People reports Conway faced complicates from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus and showed no signs of dementia or Alzheimer's.

"The Carol Burnett Show" aired on CBS from 1967-1978. He later voiced Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy in Spongebob Squarepants and also won additional Emmys for his roles in Coach and 30 Rock.

"Nobody could be with Tim and keep a straight face once he got on a roll", Burnett said in a 2003 interview with the Television Academy Foundation.

Burnett will dedicate a previously scheduled performance of her one-woman show, An Evening of Laughter and Reflection Where the Audience Asks Questions, to Conway's memory tonight in North Carolina.

"I think Conway's goal in life was to destroy Harvey", Burnett told the Television Academy Foundation.

"Harvey wet his trousers", Conway bragged.

Conway worked at WJW in the 60s. His memoir is titled, "What's So Funny?" "The truth is I don't think there's anything else I could be doing so the answer would have to be, nothing ..." Conan O'Brien said "no one made me laugh harder" growing up than Conway, whom he called a "sweets and effortlessly amusing man". He said they failed because he was not comfortable being the star.

Conway had a modest but steady movie career, appearing in such films as "The Apple Dumpling Gang" with Don Knotts. He said Dorf was one of his favorite characters.
