Liverpool's Keita ruled out for rest of season

Liverpool injury Keita

Liverpool have been dealt another injury blow with Keita now out

Klopp has confirmed Keita will miss the last few games of the season - as Liverpool continue their chase for glory on two fronts - and also potentially the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt this summer. "He has a high grade adductor injury".

Federation president Antonio Souare has told Football Factory Radio: "First we wish a very good and fast healing to Naby, as far as I know the adductors can not prevent him from playing the African Cup of Nations 2019 that will be played from 22 June for Guinea".

The manager said: "It was really unlucky".

"That keeps him out for at least two months". Bad news for us and for Guinea with the Africa Cup of Nations coming up.

"He was in a really good moment, a really good moment but it happened. It's not too nice, but it's very serious".

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita's season has been prematurely ended by a groin injury but it may offer a late opportunity for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to play a significant part in the season finale.

"For sure he's not in the best moment but it's OK I think".

"We will use him of course, that's good".

Keita limped off midway through the first half of Liverpool's 3-0 loss to Barcelona at the Camp Nou during Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg.

The encounter saw two sides, who are former winners, having lifted the famous trophy five times apiece since 1992-93 campaign.

Guinea's first match in the Africa Cup of Nations is against Madagascar on June 22.

Asked about how his side were dealing with the blow of losing heavily to Barcelona, Klopp said: "We didn't need to pick players up in Barcelona and give them a hug".

As for Liverpool, they at least have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back from a long-term injury, with Klopp adding: "It's flawless that Ox is back".
