Sanders told reporters that the Mueller report came up "very, very briefly" during the call, which lasted more than an hour.
President Trump tweeted the conversation was "very good," adding "as I have always said, long before the Witch Hunt started, getting along with Russia, China, and everyone is a good thing, not a bad thing".
She said the White House would provide more information later Friday. Trump then expressed an interest in working with Russian in another way.
When a reporter asked Trump if he told Putin not to interfere in a US election again, Trump shut her down.
The interference included both a social media campaign that favored Trump and disparaged Democrat Hillary Clinton, and the hacking of computers maintained by allies of Clinton and the subsequent releases of stolen documents. It did not determine that the Trump campaign conspired with Russian Federation, but it detailed repeated efforts by Mr Trump to thwart an investigation he feared would end his presidency. It did not offer a conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice.
Sanders said Trump and Putin also discussed the possibility of extending a current nuclear agreement, or "starting a new one that includes China".

Putin and Trump have confirmed their willingness to activate dialogue in various spheres, including strategic stability, during a phone call held on Friday.
Trump has consistently said he would not rule out military options for the crisis, though he has emphasized he hopes for a peaceful transition of power.
