City goalkeeper Ederson was selected, while title challengers Liverpool provide three of the back four with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson named alongside Aymeric Laporte.
Van Dijk is a finalist for the award, and Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane, Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero and Chelsea's Eden Hazard are his rivals for the PFA prize.
Meanwhile, the PFA have also announced the English Championship team of the year which includes Irish worldwide goalkeeper Darrren Randolph (Middlesbrough). I don't think he deserves to be in the team of the year because his form has been erratic, he has not been consistent enough'. Mo [Salah] would've deserved it again, again he's up there with the top scorers, scored so many important goals for us. "Hendo [Jordan Henderson] is in a shape where if the players voted today he'd probably be in", the manager reasoned.
The official announcement is due on Thursday but the Liverpool centre-half has won the backing of his fellow professionals for his outstanding contribution in the best defence in the Premier League this season.
Gabby Logan is joined by a panel of Gary Linekar, Alan Shearer, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Melissa Reddy who discuss their pick for PFA Player of the Year.
