AOC: Climate Change Causes Mass Migration

Was Pelosi Mocking Ocasio-Cortez?

John Kerry says AOC's Green New Deal offered 'more leadership in one day ... than President Trump has in his lifetime'

"So I think what we have laid out here is a very clear moral problem and in terms of leadership, if we fail to act or even if we delay in acting, we will have blood on our hands?" the congresswoman asked the panelists.

The representative submitted the Green New Deal legislation, which outlined a sweeping overhaul of the economy and energy sector with ambitious social-justice goals.

During a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out Republicans for attacking the Green New Deal as "socialism" while also supporting billions of dollars in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry.

"The far-right loves to drum up fear & resistance to immigrants", the Democratic Socialist tweeted.

According to The Hill, Kerry made the statement while testifying during a discussion on the intersection of climate change and national security.

When asking for advice, said she wanted "ideally at least one edible thing", adding: "We can do flowers too".

The new climate change initiative, announced in February, would establish a 10-year framework meant to increase environmental sustainability in a job-friendly way.

The plan by Ocasio-Cortez has been criticized by her colleagues across the aisle and by Trump but few alternatives have been proposed as a replacement.

Mr Corbyn and Ms Ocasio-Cortez held "wide-reaching" telephone talks in February on topics including climate change and migration, the congresswoman said at the time.

During her questioning at the hearing, Ocasio-Cortez also suggested the USA would have "blood on its hands" if climate change wasn't addressed, Fox News reported. "I don't know if you're allowed to agree with that Secretary Kerry or Secretary Hagel, but would you agree with that assessment?"

As IJR Red previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez believed that a majority of her constituents felt "outrage" at the decision to place the headquarters in her district despite polls showing otherwise.

The video AOC shared from The Leap said that numerous reasons people are forced to leave their homes - including wildfires and hurricanes - are caused by climate change.
