"We are aware of the complaint that was made against Mr. Porzingis on Friday and unequivocally deny the allegations", Riopelle said in the statement.
While playing for the Knicks a year ago, Porzingis suffered a major knee injury during a game at Madison Square Garden against the Milwaukee Bucks that the Knicks lost.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban declined to comment on the allegations due to instructions by federal authorities.
More details have emerged about the rape allegations against former Knick-turned-Maverick Kristaps Porzingis, and they are incredibly disturbing.
The alleged attack happened February 7, 2018 at the soaring Sky building in Midtown West, the woman told cops at the 10th Precinct stationhouse, the sources told The Post.
The woman told police that Porzingis held her down on a bed, hit her several times in the face, and raped her, the source said. He then went home and invited the woman to his luxury Manhattan apartment where she alleges she was sexually assaulted, the Post said the woman told police.
Porzingis' reps said they could not comment about the accusation because they have not seen the police report, according to the Post. She reportedly did so because she claims Porzingis reneged on a commitment to pay her $68,000 in hush money.
Riopelle says the National Basketball Association was notified of the allegations, and Porzingis reported to federal law enforcement in December that the accuser was making "extortionate demands".
"The NYPD's Special Victims Division has taken over the case and is investigating, the sources said".
Porzingis hasn't played in the National Basketball Association this season as he is still recovering from the ACL injury.
