Huawei launches new P30 series smartphones

Huawei's new handset sports the firm's signature supercharge system, meaning 30 minutes of charging promises to fill the phone to 70 percent.

It's also clear from the image that these straps are rubber, suggesting the smartwatch is designed for more active pursuits. Head to the bottom of this page or simply to our hands on Huawei P30 Pro review.

Huawei has been rolling out some impressive smartphones over the last year and this year, the company is looking to take things to the next level.

On the front, there is a 32-megapixel sensor.

The 40MP main camera and the 8MP telephoto lens on the P30 Pro both have OIS for better low-light performance. Huawei also says that their new sensor is capable of achieving a max ISO of 409,600! Meanwhile, the Huawei P30 Pro is equipped with a quad rear camera setup with 40MP + 20MP (ultra-wide angle) + 8MP (telephoto) + a ToF sensor. The camera setup enables 5x optical, 10x hybrid, and 50x digital zoom. Mechanical optical image stabilisation has been introduced to both the standard lens, and the 5x optical zoom lens - which should be very useful for keeping those longer length shots sharp, as well as keeping 4K video stabilised for the first time.

Huawei consumer business group CEO Richard Yu posted a photo of the moon on his Weibo account weeks before Tuesday's launch, with the blurred watermark hinting at the P30 series. Huawei has redesigned the tray: rather than a SIM tray where the two SIMs and or the NM Card are side-by-side, the tray of the P30 series is created to fit in one Nano SIM on top and the NM Card or a second Nano SIM underneath. "Instead of the large 6.47" curved OLED display, the P30 packs a smaller 6.1" flat OLED panel, but still pushes a Full HD+ resolution. In addition to eight CPU cores, the Kirin 980 also packs two neural processing units (NPUs) to help in machine learning tasks, including faster image recognition.

Additionally, the Huawei P30 packs a 3,650mAh battery, whereas the Huawei P30 Pro includes a 4,200mAh battery and has an IP68-certified build. The P30 will retail for $900 while the P30 Pro will be available for $1,127. Unlike the Pro, there is no periscope lens or TOF sensor. Yeah, your Huawei P30 Pro will be able to capture an ultra-wide angle and a zoomed video at exactly the same time - with both feeds showing up on the screen.

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro run on Android 9 Pie with the company's EMUI 9.1 on top. And it comes in five colors to boot - from classic black, to super-shiny Amber Sunrise red!

Unfortunately, we don't have any information on how much the smartphones will retail for when they land in Malaysia, but we do know that Huawei Malaysia will increase the number of P30 sales locations to 11 venues across our country.
