Beto O'Rourke is running for President in 2020

Donald Trump reacted to news that former Rep. That's how he mobilized so many voters in Texas, and how he raised an astounding $38 million in donations from supporters all across the country. "Yet Mr. O'Rourke also comes to the 2020 race with few notable legislative accomplishments after three terms in the House representing El Paso...."

Klobuchar was not the only 2020 candidate to welcome O'Rourke on Thursday.

He has added events, including a house party Saturday evening in Dubuque, a Democratic hub in northeast Iowa.

Other 2020 Democratic hopefuls have promoted their extensive legislative records.

And when Mr. Trump visited El Paso last month to talk about border security, O'Rourke held a dueling rally that captured the attention of the current commander in chief.

"In El Paso, we are secure, because we treat one another with dignity and respect". He said he will be traveling the country over the coming days for a listening tour. "We know that walls do not save lives".

Mr O'Rourke was little-known outside his hometown of El Paso until he challenged Republican Senator Ted Cruz previous year.

While he ultimately lost to Cruz in November, O'Rourke managed to come within less than 3 points of a win in Texas, a state with a reputation as a Republican stronghold.

The "born to be in it" comment has already garnered some backlash on social media, as issues of inequality and privilege are being debated in what is already the most crowded and diverse Democratic primary field in recent history. Although O'Rourke, 46, fell short in his bid to take a Senate seat in Texas, speculation immediately spread wild that he would launch a bid for the highest office.

O'Rourke had mulled a presidential run for months and took an unusual break for what appeared to be some soul-searching after his loss, taking a road trip to New Mexico, Kansas and elsewhere. I think she is a very effective campaigner.

"We saw the power of this in Texas, where people allowed no difference, however great or however small, to stand between them and divide us", the former congressman said, referring to his failed bid to unseat GOP Sen.

Meanwhile, a source tied to O'Rourke's campaign confirmed to Reuters that the ex-congressman would be running.
