More Details From Nintendo On The Labo VR Kit For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo's Labo VR kits turn the Switch into a Google Cardboard with extras

We absolutely weren't expecting this from Nintendo

The Toy-Con 04 VR Kit will launch in the United States on 12 April through Nintendo, though there's now no word on when the set will come to other territories. It costs $80 and it includes the Nintendo Labo software, six new Toy-Con creations: the Toy-Con VR Goggles, Toy-Con Blaster, Toy-Con Camera, Toy-Con Bird, Toy-Con Wind Pedal and Toy-Con Elephant - as well as a screen holder and safety cap.

The Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit will arrive on April 12, 2019. Curiously, there doesn't appear to be any gameplay footage of the Labo VR Kit's games. While the VR Kit will be available in stores next month, the two expansions will be available online only.

The company will use its DIY cardboard accessories to help turn the Switch into a makeshift VR headset, akin to how Google was able to turn the smartphone into a VR portal through Cardboard.

The VR Kit is created to be passed around and shared among a group of people, Nintendo said.

The VR Kits for Nintendo Switch will be available on 12 April and cost $79.99 and $39.99 respectively (we're still waiting for United Kingdom prices). "We wanted to design an experience that encourages both virtual and real-world interactions among players through passing around Toy-Con creations".

Hopefully, Nintendo will reveal more about the mini-games that these cardboard constructions will relate to - the VR experiences on offer.

The Toy-Con Garage feature will be making a return in the VR kit, which could lead to some seriously awesome creations.

If you're looking to get in on the ground floor of Nintendo's VR action, there's also a $39.99 starter kit that comes with just the goggles and blaster - but, crucially, no elephant.

The VR kit will be available in North America on April 12. The Starter Set is a great entry point into the world of Nintendo Labo VR. It's a good option for kids and families who want to dive in to the full experience.
