Although Joycelyn Savage has repeatedly claimed she's living with Kelly on her own free will, during Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docu-series her parents publicly shared their fears that she's been brainwashed and intentionally isolated from her loved ones. "How stupid would it be for R. Kelly, with all I've been through in my way, way past [.] how stupid would I be to do that?"
"Oooh, that's a good question", she said. They was describing Lucifer. Forget how you feel about me. "This is the first time I was able to say something".
"The only thing I want to say is Joycelyn, if you're seeing this message please know that I love you".
Savage went to live with Kelly in Chicago when she was 19 years old in hopes of furthering her music career.
"That's stupid! Use your common sense", Kelly continued.
"I don't need to". Now, R. Kelly has reacted to some of the high-profile backlash.
Long after R. Kelly should have been shunned, Baton Rouge gave him a key to the city, and a civil rights organization lauded him. "Stop it! Y'all quit playing!"
"I didn't do this stuff!" This is not me!. "Ya'll trying to kill me!"
Kelly was arrested on February 22, 2019, for 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse allegedly committed against women and minors between 1998 to 2010.
King also interviewed Savage and Clary.
Robert Kelly, or as he's infamously well renowned by his initial, R Kelly, sat down with Gayle King to talk about the recent allegations that he's been charged with. All you have to do is press a button on your phone and say, 'So and so did this to me. They're my girlfriends. It's like, we have a relationship.
Interviewer Gayle King then noted that "the past is relevant with you with underage girls". "I know he has put a lot of things in her head that not just her family, but the world is out to get her". Kelly called his accusers liars and alleged that people are after him for his money. "What kind of father, what kind of mother, will sell their daughter to a man?" The parents of the two women denied they sold their daughters to him. He would be given seven years for each of the 10 counts of sexual abuse.
"There are older men who like younger women and older women who like younger men".
Gayle King wasn't sidestepping the main issue and directly asked R. Kelly to comment on accusations that he has been sexually abusing underage girls.
Kelly is one of the top-selling recording artists of all time. Musicians who had collaborated with him, including Lady Gaga and Chance the Rapper, have apologized for working with him. Those charges centered on a graphic video that prosecutors said showed him having sex with a girl as young as 13. He married the late singer Aaliyah in 1994 when he was 27 and she 15; it was later discovered that she lied and listed her age on the marriage certificate as 18.
