Following HBO's release of Leaving Neverland the heart-wrenching documentary on the life of Michael Jackson and the allegations of pedophilia surrounding the late singer, a feud has broken out online as fans and critics disputed Jackson's legacy.
Leaving Neverland features new Michael Jackson abuse allegations that have had the entertainment world in an uproar since the project was announced. When the family went to California, Robson's parents agreed for him to stay with Jackson while they continued their holiday and he alleges that the abuse began then.
"Little one send me another fax please", one reads. He started calling me apple head.
Following its debut at this year's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, "Leaving Neverland" was met with immediate backlash from Jackson's fans and from the singer's family, who slammed the production in the press repeatedly. When I wasn't with him, I was thinking of him. "I don't know where it came from but that became my name from him".
Because Robson and Safechuck previously stood up for Michael Jackson there are many who are attacking the men and saying they are not victims, that Michael Jackson was not a pedophile and that the two are out for self-promotion, fame, money, and greed. But he added, "And he also sexually abused me for seven years". The judge in the case ruled that Jackson's estate could not be held responsible for Jackson's actions.
Complicating their narrative is the fact that both testified on Jackson's behalf in child-molestation trials - and, after his death, unsuccessfully sued his estate. When he was queried about his change of position between 2005 and 2013, Robson responded, "I did not believe that I was forced". In both cases, Jackson first earned the trust of the boys' families by inviting them out to his Ranch for friendly sleepovers, where he showered them with attention, affection, and gifts.
