Antetokounmpo revealed he promised Milwaukee Bucks teammate Khris Middleton that he would be picked first amongst reserves.
But the real fun happened with LeBron's first pick among the reserves as he went with Anthony Davis. The league fined Davis $50,000 last month following a revelation made by his agent that Davis wanted to be traded away from the Pelicans to "a team that allows him the chance to win consistently and compete for a championship".
And with the sixth pick of the non-starters round and the 14th pick overall, James selected Lillard for his team while tapping his wrist and repeating Lillard's now-famous "You know what time it is" tagline. While James added some suspense at first, he ended up taking his long-time peer and former teammate in Wade, leaving Giannis with Nowitzki.
Antetokounmpo was pretty happy with his slick move: "I'm playing mind games", he jokingly said. "I'm just kidding. I'm going with my buddy Dwyane Wade".
Antetokounmpo said he took George for one reason: "He had a huge dunk on me", Antetokounmpo said, tipping his cap to the slam that the Thunder star threw down last month. After the draft, James proposed a trade of Westbrook for Simmons in order to pair Westbrook with one of his many rivals, Joel Embiid.
"I didn't have to lobby for it", Wade said.
In a surprise move, the two captains then agreed to a trade, with James swapping Oklahoma City Thunder star Westbrook for Ben Simmons after the draft.
With a smile on his face, Antetokounmpo obliged and sealed the deal to send Simmons to Team LeBron, while the 76ers point guard was at home riding the rollercoaster of events.
Antetokounmpo selected two centers, Orlando Magic's Nikola Vucevic and Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic alongside Detroit Pistons forward Nikola Jokic.
