Grande reportedly wanted to perform her latest single, "7 Rings", but an insider told Variety they initially balked at that. However, "a compromise was reached whereby "7 Rings" would be part of a medley", but Ariana still opted out after "producers insisted that the second song be of their choosing", the sources added.
Grande is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance (for "God Is a Woman") and Best Pop Vocal Album (for 2018's "Sweetener").
Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift are reportedly planning to skip the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
However, she has since refused to perform (or even attend the ceremony) according to reports, after she disagreed with producers.
Ariana was all set to perform but then had a disagreement with the show's producers over which songs she would perform.
Scheduled performers during the Grammys include Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Brandi Carlile, H.E.R., Dan + Shay, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes and Janelle Monáe.
However she went on to organise a triumphant return shown in Manchester and released her biggest album ever with Sweetener doing over 1.2 million in total activity and over 1.14 billion streams. Grande also likely wants to use the platform to promote her new album "Thank U, Next", featuring that track.
Variety says they instead, 'offered her a spot during the show's Tom Petty tribute'.
The pop star has been nominated for two awards at the Grammys.
