At Mavericks Introduction, Porzingis Holds Back On Knicks Divorce

NBA rumors Rival exec believes Knicks have been told Kevin Durant is coming

Is Kevin Durant leaving for the Knicks in free agency already a done deal?More

NY didn't necessarily get the haul indicative of Porzingis' otherworldly talent by ending up with headliners such as Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan.

The trade for Porzingis, along with shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr.

Latvian big man Porzingis, the number four pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, hasn't played since undergoing surgery to fix a torn left knee ligament last February.

"Our goal is to keep them together for the next 20 years", Cuban said Monday at an introductory press conference in Dallas.

"I'm excited to get back on the court as soon as possible", said Porzingis, a native of Latvia, who showed off his fluent Spanish during the press conference and spoke better English than most of the packed media crammed into the American Airlines Center interview room.

This comes in the wake of Davis handing in a trade request at the New Orleans Pelicans with the Knicks being linked with a move for the five-time All-Star. "Peace", Porzingis wrote on his verified account early Sunday morning. Jimmy Butler could decide he doesn't want to see the Raptors, Knicks and Celtics four times each next season and find a new home in free agency - and whoever lands Butler lands one of the best two-way players in the National Basketball Association.

Those doubts were confirmed Thursday, Mills said, when Porzingis expressed his concerns about the direction of the franchise in a meeting with team management.

Mark Cuban hopes Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic remain in Dallas for the foreseeable future. The Pelicans will likely not be interested in trading with the Knicks due to New York's lack of assets. Davis, who requested a trade a week ago, can't become a free agent until July of 2020.

Asked if that was true, Porzingis said, "Yes".

The Knicks were looking for salary-cap relief and young players or future first-round picks in a trade.

But I can tell you this: In my discussions with rival team executives, I've heard from many more who praise the trade - believing the Knicks must have some promising inside information about their ability to lure the likes of Durant and Irving - than from those questioning how much the Knicks received in return. KP is re-signing with the Knicks in free agency in 2020!

The Mavs deemed Porzingis' potential to be worth the price, considering him a franchise-caliber player whose game complements 19-year-old rookie star Doncic.

Porzingis has averaged 17.8 points and 7.1 rebounds over 186 career appearances.
