Directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (yes, that's the official title) follows the titular muscular men as they attempt to stop global terrorist leader (and "human evolutionary change") Brixton, played by Idris Elba. The first trailer for the spinoff was released on February 1, and it looks badass.
The Fast and the Furious film franchise started out as a series of movies about illegal street racing. This movie is the very definition of action.
The spot is rounded out by some even more bonkers, physics-defying craziness, with Brixton's steely voiceover: "Hobbs and Shaw". Played by Idris Elba, supervillain Brixton is-per Universal's provided synopsis-a "cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist who gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever".
Sadly though, we don't get to see The Rock and fellow former WWE champ Roman Reigns teaming up in traditional Samoan grab, as teased on his Instagram. The pair have had a rocky relationship ever since Shaw first popped up in Furious 7, and their first meeting resulted in a fist fight and a hospitalization. Now they'll have to work together again to bring down Brixton (Idris Elba), a criminal mastermind who's used some kind of enhancement tech to make himself "bulletproof" and impossibly strong.
