Luka Modric, the Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder has added the Ballon D'Or to the trophies won this year, after winning the UEFA and Federation Internationale de Football Association best player of 2018.
A national hero in his home country and crowned the best player on the planet, Modric was rewarded for his key role in Croatia's historic run to the World Cup final and his club Real Madrid's third straight Champions League trophy. He was voted player of the tournament.

Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg - who plays for Lyon - won the award with 136 points, six clear of second-placed Dane Pernille Harder with German Dzenffer Maroszan in third place.
"But, like I told you, I would change all of this for a World Cup. Being a women's footballer and winning the Ballon d'Or tonight is a step for me to take that action, personally".
Ronaldo, who joined Real Madrid from Juventus in the summer, came second.
Croatia lost 4-2 to France in Moscow in the final in July.
"It was a really special year for me". Modric had never previously been in the top three.
France Football magazine has been awarding the Ballon d'Or since 1956, and created a women's award for the first time this year. The suggestion clearly made Hegerberg uncomfortable.
People are always going to have issues with the Ballon d'Or voting but the aforementioned choices are on another level. "I let them know, quite clearly, what I found wasn't working".
