NAB signs on with AWS for cloud services

Amazon Enters Blockchain With Managed Blockchain & Quantum Ledger

AWS goes deep and wide with machine learning services and capabilities

Amazon said the tool can help everyone from healthcare providers and insurers to researchers, clinical trial organizers and health IT experts. "By removing common challenges associated with reinforcement learning, giving developers the chance to have some fun, and providing them a complete autonomous model racing vehicle along with AWS machine learning services like Amazon SageMaker, we are putting every developer in position to experiment with reinforcement learning and machine learning". The service will give business the ability to run AWS infrastructure and services on-premises to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience. It can also replicate an immutable copy of a blockchain network activity into Amazon QLDB, allowing developers to easily analyze the network activity outside the network and gain insights into trends. Once your network is up and running, Managed Blockchain makes it easy to manage and maintain your blockchain network. The AWS DeepRacer also includes a fully configured cloud environment that is utilized by the reinforcement learning installed in each race auto.

Among the other provider of the public cloud services, Amazon is also following the Google into the chip market. But Amazon made no bones about the issues with current hybrid options and where they see Outposts fitting in the hybrid market (note, it involved heavily repeating the C-word: consistency). Called AWS Outposts, it's the same EC2 hardware AWS uses in its own datacentres. However, Marko said: "Outposts is the first time AWS users will be able to deploy a subset of core AWS services in their own data centres or co-located racks".

Variant 2: Through AWS native variant available in AWS Outposts, customers can use same APIs and control plane which they used to run in the AWS Cloud, but now on-premises.

Speaking on stage during AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas this week, alongside VMware cofounder and CEO Pat Gelsinger, AWS CEO Andy Jassy said: "We have customers who have a number of workloads that will live on-premise for a long time and there are lots of different reasons for that, oftentimes they need really low-latency for something that sits on premise, so in a factory or something like that". "AWS understands our requirements for operating securely in the cloud, and worked with us to establish a training program that prepares our workforce with the necessary skills to enable our path to the cloud". Microsoft's Azure Stack allows customers to extend some cloud capabilities into on-prem data centers.

AWS Outposts is essentially an extension of a customer's Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud).

"VMware Cloud on AWS broke the barriers between the data center and the cloud by combining the best of the private cloud and public cloud in the AWS cloud", said Pat Gelsinger, chief executive officer, VMware.

AWS is attempting to disrupt the current model with a smoother experience for customers, joining its biggest cloud competitors.
