The community gathered Sunday night to remember four lives taken suddenly in a hit-and-run crash, reports CBS Minnesota.
"Our hearts are broken for the girls and families of the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes", CEO Sylvia Acevedo of Girl Scouts of the US said in a statement on November 4.
Sergeant Daniel Sokup of the Lake Hallie Police said the stretch of road had no blind spots, with the crash occurring just before an incline in the road. "The Girl Scout Movement everywhere stands with our sister Girl Scouts in Wisconsin to grieve and comfort one another in the wake of this bad tragedy".
Pastor Jim Woldhuis says the mother and daughter who died attended Chippewa Valley Bible Church, where he presides.
CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District Superintendent Heidi Eliopoulos spoke during Sunday's news conference.
Eliopoulos says approximately 15 people were there at the time of the incident. 29 overpass about 11:40 a.m. when a black Ford F-150 pickup veered off the north-south road and hit the group, police said.
She said two of the girls killed Saturday attended Halmstad Elementary.
The three Girl Scouts who were killed in the crash have been identified as Jayna Kelley, 9, of Lake Hallie, Autum Helgeson, 10, of Lake Hallie, Haylee Hinkle, 10, of Lafayette. A fourth girl who was struck by the pickup remained hospitalized in critical condition as of Saturday evening.
Chippewa County Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Jensen says Treu is being held on 13 possible charges, including four counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

THREE Girl Scouts have been run over and killed while picking up rubbish on the side of a rural road in Wisconsin.
The girls were fourth-graders and members of Troop 3055 in Chippewa Falls.
Lake Hallie Police say the truck Treu was driving veered out of it's lane, crossed the center line and left the road entirely when it traveled into a ditch, hitting 4 children and 1 adult.
Colten Treu, 21, sped off after the collision in Lake Hallie Saturday morning, but later surrendered.
"Our hearts are broken", said Sheri Jasper, board member of the Girl Scouts Northwestern Great Lakes.
'We will be providing ongoing support for both students (and) families and staff for as long as needed'. The two-ton pickup slammed into the Scouts, visiting tragedy on the town of 14,000 before speeding off.
The three girls killed are Girl Scouts. Sokup says he will be charged with four homicide counts.
