One of his previous two centuries came against New Zealand, last year, while the second century was in the previous match against West Indies. At the time, he was also contemplating offers from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and West Indies but made a decision to stay back to put himself in the fray to become Pakistan's spin bowling coach.
With 14 tons as the Indian skipper, Virat is second only to Ricky Ponting with most centuries as a skipper in ODI cricket.
Tendulkar took 259 innings to get there, while Kohli has so far batted in 205 innings.
'It's a great honour for me to represent my country, ' Kohli said.
"Personally, I´m pretty proud of my innings and my milestone".
Virat Kohli says he is "grateful" and "blessed" after breaking the record to become the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 one-day global runs.
Windies could have removed Kohli for 44 but captain Jason Holder dropped a chance off the bowling of McCoy running towards the long-off boundary.
He made the touring side pay by hitting 13 fours and four sixes in his 129-ball knock. India spent too many runs in the death overs and this would be the main area where Kohli would ask his team to work on.
Apart from Kohli and Tendulkar, Dhoni is the only other Indian to have scored more than 4,000 runs on home soil.
"Really good game of cricket played by both teams. Also Shimron Hetmyer showed his consistency again and I felt it was a really good effort by the bowlers". His first assignment will be West Indies' upcoming tour of Bangladesh, where they are slated to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. Bravo was part of the West Indies team that won the Champions Trophy later that summer, as well as an integral member lifting the ICC World T20 in 2012 and 2016.
The ODI series continues in Pune on Saturday.
