At least 2 dead after shooting inside Kroger grocery store in Kentucky

Police say Bush then re-holstered his gun as he exited the store, and once outside, he shot another victim, a woman, several times.

Police have not officially identified Stallard or the woman who was killed outside.

Ed Harrell was quoted by the Courier Journal as saying he was waiting on his wife in the parking lot when he heard gunshots and grabbed his revolver. They fired shots at each other but missed. Initial reports claimed that multiple people had been shot, but there was no word on how many. A passerby with EMT training saw a woman get hit as he was calling 911 and tried to help her, but "there was nothing I could do", he tells the station.

"It nearly sounded like a pallet hitting the floor", he told WDRB-TV in Louisville.

The victims appeared to have been random and the police did not offer a motive for the shooting that took place around 2:30 pm EDT at a Kroger Co supermarket about 15 miles from downtown Louisville, Rogers said. He said he called out to ask what was going on, and the gunman replied: "Don't shoot me".

"After the fourth shot, I don't know if there were five or fifteen", Butler told Wave3 news. King said in a video posted on the newspaper's website.

"[My father] didn't realize it was [the shooter] till he had already seen the gun by his side", said the son, who was at the scene of the shooting, according to a local Fox affiliate. "Whites don't kill whites, '" Zinninger said.

He said a man came around the corner and "the look on his face, he looked like he just didn't care".

"We are shocked and saddened by the shooting", Kroger said in a statement.
