Brees breaks NFL's all-time passing yards record

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees broke the NFL's all-time passing mark on Monday, eclipsing Peyton Manning's 71,940 career yards in the Saints' game against the Washington Redskins.

Peterson seemed confident postgame that he would be okay, and an MRI confirmed that he had suffered no major damage, the person with knowledge of the injury said.

Once everything was said and done, the Saints went for the two-point conversion and New Orleans went on to roll to a 43-19 victory over the Redskins on Monday night. The loss was another instance in the Gruden era in which Washington came crashing back down after pulling off an impressive win in the outing before. It was just a situation where it was sore.

Brees also connected with Smith on a 35-yard touchdown pass on the first series of the second half.

"Just so grateful for the opportunity to play this game and to have played it so long and to have the teammates that I have, and the New Orleans Saints organization, and this great city and this great fan base". He said he got up after running a swing route and felt stiffness in his shoulder.

Following the dismantling of the Washington Redskins on the field, running back Alvin Kamara had his own powerful message in the locker room. He had four carries for six yards and caught two passes for 36 yards before exiting the game. He did not touch the ball in the second half.
