Unai Emery bringing a "winning mentality" to Arsenal says Rob Holding

Ramsey poised to leave Arsenal after club withdraw contract offer

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to leave Premier League club after contract talks collapse

His and Arsenal's intentions now immediately turns to Thursday's Europa League tie against Qarabag.

Ramsey's deal expires at the end of the season and the Arsenal star is free to speak to other clubs about a potential switch once the winter transfer window opens.

"Arsenal's wage bill is pushed to its absolute max because they've signed up Mesut Ozil, they've signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alexandre Lacazette was a record signing and that was all before the Unai Emery era so he has no wiggle room".

'You can think too much, but I have to warm up to concentrate on the game.

"I respect his decision to play or not play with the national team", Emery said of Ozil, who retired from worldwide football after the World Cup.

Much of the talk in the build up to the game had centred around Aaron Ramsey's reported contract talks with news breaking in the week that the London club had withdrawn their offer of a contract renewal.

"I like him simply because when he gets in there he will finish and he's somebody that, given a run of games, he will do something because he's not afraid".

"We played 80 minutes very well", he told the club's official website. I want to have also the best preparation for him, for his mentality and his quality, to give us our best performance to help us to win. It was a really competitive and physical game and we knew that coming in.

"He's somebody who is the heartbeat of the team and when it's going poorly or badly, he still shows for the ball and tries to play how he wants to play, tries to get in the box and does things. But this passage was necessary today and I think our players on the pitch in the first half were a little nervous and we need to continue being calm".

'It was a hard start when you don't think you're going to play and then Petr is injured - I hope he will get well soon, ' said Leno.

"Tomorrow is our focus and I spoke with every player - also with Mesut - about the focus and the concentration to prepare for the best performance tomorrow".
