Seven years since Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne returns with the long-awaited fifth installment in his Carter series.

"With this album, I'm giving you more than me", Wayne told his fans in a video posted to his YouTube channel earlier this week.

The first pieces were released at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday over at Tha Carter V's official online shop.

Nicki Minaj is thanking Lil Wayne for believing in her. "I'm happy for Lil Wayne man", another fan chimed in. "Let It Fly" hears Wayne sharing bars with hip-hop phenom Travis Scott, before going it alone on "Can't Be Broken".

It was reported that as part of the deal, Wayne is now the sole owner of Young Money Records, which was previously a subsidiary of Cash Money. Young Money now belongs exclusively to Wayne, and will continue to be distributed by Republic Records. So what was the problem and why was Tha Carter V still unreleased?

"We're releasing Yandhi Saturday night", Kanye tweeted. Then, in June 2018, we learned that Lil Wayne and Birdman settled their legal beef, and now the highly-anticipated album just might see the light of day. He has decided that his birthday, September 27, is the best moment to do this and he announced the plan to his fans. And a couple months after that, Wayne said that the delays had to do with the album's length, and teased that the first part of it would arrive in December 2014.

Will it be tonight? Both Wayne and James have come a long way since 2004.
