Nintendo Switch Online service launches September 18

Nintendo is rolling out its Switch Online service next week

Nintendo Direct Rescheduled, Switch Online Launches September 18

Yesterday, Nintendo finally confirmed the launch date for the Switch's paid online service.

Switch Online is the Nintendo's unimaginatively-named subscription-based online service.

After installing the system update planned for September 18th, 2018 (Tuesday) at 5pm Pacific Time, it will no longer be possible to unlink your Nintendo Account from your Nintendo Switch user. These will include Super Mario Bros, Ice Climbers, and the original Legend of Zelda.

"We have a lot to say about the game, but we'll have to save that for another time".

It'll be free for the first week but after that it'll cost £3.49 a month, £6.99 for three months, or £17.99 for a year. Nintendo Switch Online players will also get to enjoy 20 classic Nintendo games, with more to come. Online play, Save Data Cloud backup and Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app features available in compatible games. The livestream will last about 35 minutes and provide more information on upcoming Switch and 3DS titles as well as the Nintendo Switch Online service. Nintendo will also offer a family bundle for $34.99 that allows up to eight people to use the same subscription.

In a short but sweet kick-off during today's Nintendo Direct, the company announced Luigi's Mansion 3 for Nintendo Switch.
