Strzok had been reassigned off counterintelligence investigations following the discovery of his messages, which included a vow to FBI attorney Lisa Page that "we'll stop" Trump from being elected, complaints about the "smell" of Trump supporters and other such comments sent in real time during the 2016 presidential race.
FBI agent Peter Strzok, who became a central figure in controversy surrounding investigations into alleged Russian meddling and Hillary Clinton's private email server, has been fired, his attorney has said.
Mr Strzok responds: "No".
Strzok - who served in the agency for over two decades - is best known for his roles in the Clinton email investigation and the Russian Federation probe. "I just fight back".
At the time, Strzok was in the early stages of investigating whether any Trump associates had conspired with Russia's interference in the presidential election, and almost a month passed before agents and analysts began to act on the emails found on Weiner's laptop.
Trump wrote on Twitter on August 13. "The firing of anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok is welcome, if overdue".
Strzok's position in the bureau had been precarious since last summer, when the Department of Justice's inspector general, Michael Horowitz, told special counsel Robert Mueller that the lead agent on his team had been exchanging anti-Trump messages with an FBI lawyer.
The president also tweeted that the Clinton investigation "was a total fraud on the American public and should be properly redone!"
"They overruled the FBI's own disciplinary office and fired Agent Strzok anyways". Driven by a desire to influence the vote in favor of Hillary Clinton and indignation when they failed in this endeavor, these officials sought to destabilize the Donald Trump presidency.
Strozk himself, in a text message to Page during that time, expressed his concern that there is no "there", there, in reference to the collision investigation.
The Justice Department IG found Strzok had "bias" but found Strzok and Page hadn't let their views impact their decisions on cases.
Supporters of fired Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok rallied to his side on Monday and donated almost $200,000 on GoFundMe in just 15 hours.
Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page arrives for a House committee deposition, one day after the session involving Strzok. "At the last minute, that was countermanded by (FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich) and he was sacked - so yeah, we were surprised".
