His form caught Real Madrid's attention but mounting transfer speculation culminated in him signing a seven-and-a-half-year contract extension at San Mames in January.

Here is how social media have reacted to the 26-year-old's move, with many tipping Barcelona's Lionel Messi to score goals aplenty when they face Madrid.

"I've met Keylor, we've had a little chat", Courtois said in a news conference at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. "If he ends up here one day, that would be brilliant".

"Everyone who knows me knows how hard I've worked to get here, and I'm proud to be at the best club in the world".

Chelsea has signed Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for a world-record €80 million ($92.8 million) fee from Athletic Bilbao, the Premier League club said on Wednesday. The Belgian global had just one year on his contract and refused to sign an extension so Chelsea made a decision to cash-in rather than lose him for nothing in 12 months.

Navas has helped Madrid win three consecutive Champions League titles as well La Liga in 2017, but though his long-term future has often been in doubt, the Costa Rica No. 1 said he had no interest in a transfer.

Thibaut Courtois' wish finally will come true.

"I hope they remember me fondly, and I wish them all the best". "From what people have told me, he's a really great guy, and from a professional point of view, I consider him a fantastic goalkeeper as well".

Kovacic joins the club on a season-long loan.

"When I [first] saw him play, I was just so struck by the fact that a keeper who was then only 18 could perform like that under such pressure".

"When I arrived at Chelsea I had to replace [Petr] Cech and there was the same question", Courtois said.

He later deleted the post but again thanked everyone involved with Chelsea once he had completed the move to Madrid. It was not easy to leave everything I have worked for so many years, the exertion nd the experiences.
