On Wednesday night, Danica Patrick hosted the ESPYs - ESPN's annual awards show that honors the athletes from the previous year.

"I'm the biggest Packers fan", Patrick revealed Monday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live". She's also a proven music fan, faithfully sporting headphones before every run during this year's games.

Patrick, the first woman to win an IndyCar race, had simple advice for people who look up to her: know what you love.

ESPY stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, making the awards show more than just who caught the most passes or scored the most points, though they do take that into account.

Then, after jabbing Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons for "becoming a Kardashian" due to his relationship with Kendall Jenner, Patrick turned her focus to Los Angeles' newest star - LeBron James.

Danica Patrick is grateful for the support of her boyfriend, Aaron Rodgers.

Patrick soldiered on, telling the audience, "We have to mention the elephant in the room". "I'd say we're even. JR Smith would say, 'We're up by one!'"

Shiffrin faces three first-time nominees for female athlete in Sylvia Fowles of the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx, Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim and soccer player Julie Ertz.

After the two boom rookies went head-to-head for the NBA's Rookie of the Year award, Simmons had the last laugh, taking out the prestigious honour.
