Authorities say a gunman being investigated in the killing of a university student from India shot and wounded three Kansas City police officers Sunday before dying in an exchange of gunfire with police.
The incident began around 12:15 p.m.in an area near Interstate 70.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It has been reported that two police officers were shot in Kansas City Sunday morning. "At that point two of our officers were shot". The officers' conditions haven't been released, but police have said their wounds weren't life threatening.
The vehicle was found later and the passenger was taken into custody.
The Kansas City Star reports that the suspect shot the third officer in the arm while the suspect was holed up in the house. Police tracked that vehicled down, more gunfire was exchanged.
One additional officer was injured in the tradeoff and taken to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
Sharath Koppu from Hyderabad was an MS student at the University of Missouri and had been working part-time at J's where the culprit fired at him five rounds, in what was believed to be a robbery attempt.
The newspaper reported that all three officers were expected to live.

Kuchibhotla's widow has said the outpouring of love and support in the past year has convinced her she and her community are welcome in Kansas City. He was later declared deceased by KCFD. The condition of the third officer wasn't immediately available. The suspected gunman, armed with a rifle, fled the scene in a vehicle with a second individual, police said. Many of our children who go to the USA for studies fall short of money hence they choose to work instead of putting more stress on their parents.
