But Police Scotland said it could not grant permission for the balloon due to the tight security surrounding the President's visit, which includes air space restrictions around Turnberry.

The two leaders will hold talks the following day at Chequers, the 16th-century manor house which is the prime minister's official country residence which will focus on Russian Federation, trade, Brexit and Middle East.

On Friday he'll meet Theresa May at the prime minister's country house, Chequers - and he'll meet the Queen at Windsor Castle while protests take place in London.
